Drilling Supervisor

The ideal candidate shall be leading and managing a site rigs team of Drillers and Assistant Driller / Offsiders.
Operational Management:
· Supervise and coordinate daily drilling activities on-site.
· Plan drilling operations in alignment with project schedules, budgets, and client requirements.
· Ensure correct rig set-up, alignment, and drilling practices for various formations.
· Monitor drilling performance, penetration rates, and core recovery to optimize efficiency.
· Troubleshoot technical and operational problems, including stuck rods, fluid loss, or unstable formations.
· Ensures the highest level of safety, health and environmental work standards are maintained. Inspect drill sites and work areas to confirm safety and address hazards before work begins.
· Lead the drilling teams through toolbox talks at the start of Day & Night shifts.
· Verify pre-checks on all vehicles, equipment, and rigs before each shift.
· Manage surface and underground drilling rig activities and closely monitor the field rig operations, including continuous performance improvements in both personnel and equipment. Ensure that performance and issues are recorded and reported.
· Develop and implement a rigorous preventative maintenance schedule, leveraging data-driven insights to minimize equipment downtime and operational costs
Team Leadership:
· Lead and manage drilling crews, ensuring clear communication of tasks and responsibilities.
· Provide on-the-job training and guidance to operators, assistants, and support staff.
· Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety among crew members.
Technical Oversight:
· Ensure proper use of drilling fluids, downhole tools, and core recovery equipment.
· Verify accuracy and completeness of drilling logs, depth records, and daily reports.
· Inspect equipment regularly and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs or servicing.
· Ensure samples are collected, preserved, and documented according to specifications.
Reporting & Client Interface:
· Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and end-of-project reports as required.
· Communicate regularly with project managers, geologists, and clients regarding progress and challenges.
· Provide technical input and recommendations to improve drilling performance and safety.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree Mining/ Geology is a plus.
· Minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience in drilling operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
· Solid understanding of drilling fluids, downhole survey tools, and geological formations.
· Strong knowledge of HSE practices in drilling operations.
· Proficiency in preparing and reviewing drilling reports.
· Fluency in English language.
