- Recording the patient’s name, number, and the type of examination required in a special notebook. The x-ray number is written on the examination request, and it is confirmed for women that there is no pregnancy.
- Informing patients or department nurses of all necessary instructions for any examination, such as the patient’s attendance without breakfast or taking a specific pill
- Directs the patient to the locker room and instructs him to undress, remove all radio-opaque items, and put on an x-ray examination apron.
- Ensure that the x-ray examination referred by the treating physician is requested and specifies what part is to be imaged and what conditions are required
- Assists the patient on the imaging table and places the patient in the required positions
- He adjusts the x-ray tube, determines the x-ray package and imaging agents needed for each patient’s condition, chooses the appropriate film size and type for each examination, places the patient’s letter and identification number on the clipboard, prints the patient’s name and examination date on the film if possible, and his technical number, or writes that on the x-ray film.
- Cleans the film cases from any impurities related to them, and cleans the backing boards once a week. He also changes the backing boards that have become damaged and replaces them with new, serviceable ones.
- Supervising the cleaning of the x-ray machine he works on, ensuring its suitability, and reporting any malfunctions in it
- Making simple repairs to the x-ray machine, such as changing fuses
- Developing the photographed films by him or other radiology assistants according to the arrangement of the work schedule in the Radiology Department, preparing the chemicals for development, and daily and periodic cleaning of the development device.
