Roles and responsibilities:
- Heating pieces of iron inside the metal smelting furnace at a high temperature
- Shaping or cutting iron using a range of hand tools, such as hammers and power tools, such as lathes and drills, as well as presses and electric lathes.
- Reheating and reshaping metals to get the correct shape
- Choosing the appropriate type of metal to implement the project and determining the appropriate quantity
- Welding metal pieces together, using welding tools and fire
- Smoothing metal and rough edges, removing any defects on the surface, such as scratches, etc., and painting them
- Repair damaged equipment using welding
- Making decorative iron works, doors, windows, etc
- Creating molds for casting and shaping metal
- Wear protective clothing, safety belts, goggles, and ear protectors while working
- Follow occupational safety and health standards for this specialty
- Using fire to heat metals and bring them into a flexible shape for shaping
- Metal hammering and shaping according to each client’s requirements
- Constantly learning about everything new and developing their skills
- Inspecting the works after completion to ensure their compliance with quality standards and specifications and addressing any deficiencies
- Regular maintenance of work equipment and tools
