• Reviews daily menu specifications for regular and modified meals and plans for cooking schedules so that food is ready at specified times.
• Assists in sourcing raw ingredients required for menus and preparing them for cooking. Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes, using a variety of kitchen tools and equipment
• Bake, grill, and stew meat, fish, vegetables, and other foods. Observes and tastes food being cooked and adds ingredients or seasonings as needed
• Cutting portions of meat, fish and poultry for individual meals and distributing food to serving units. Portion servings according to menu combinations or patient requests
• Prepare cold cuts, sandwiches, grilled items and cooked cereals
• Observes a high level of hygiene throughout food preparation. Maintains work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
