- Assist in the creation of a pleasant unit atmosphere and a clean safe environment.

- Coordinate patient admission/discharge/transfer arrangements.
- Arrange for continuing outpatient services and arrange for home care referral as needed.
- Triage patient problems as necessary.
- Participate fully in multi-disciplinary patient rounds and advise as necessary.
- Maintain awareness of patient condition and staff workloads.
- Complete and exchange of information between the incoming and outgoing nursing staff by communicating patient care needs and unusual events.
- Ensure patient /staff confidentiality.
- Maintain patient records accurately and promptly and accordance with Policies and Procedures.
- Assist in maintaining safe custody of drugs in accordance with hospital policy and procedures.
- Assist in establishing and monitoring protocols and pathways.
- Develop an awareness of budgeting, exercising care and economy in the ordering and use of supplies and equipment.
- Act as facilitator in the supervision and teaching of less experienced staff.
- Facilitate the orientation programme for new members of staff.
- Work as a preceptor/mentor in the support and development of junior staff.
- Assist in monitoring staff performance and participate in stall review.
- Keep up to date with relevant clinical and professional development in nursing.
- Be aware of the role of the EMS in handling complaints, according to Total Quality Management (TQM) policy and procedure.
- Contribute to the setting of standards and monitoring of measurable standards of care and be accountable for maintain standards.
- Uphold quality initiatives that improve “customer care” and enhances the interface between staff, patients, families and visitors.
- Participate in a programme of clinical supervision
- Follow all hospital related policies and procedures.
- Ensure self-motivation for personal continuing education

- Utilize assessment and re-assessment, skills and coordinating to determine the patient needs and concerns.
- Join doctor’s round to provide accurate reports of patient’s condition, reaction to any medication and treatments rendered.
