A Rig Mechanic must have extensive knowledge of the drilling rig equipment, parts and components. Must have experience with hydraulic motors and rig engines.
Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to plan and implement daily activities keeping their area of concern, in order to keep the Drilling Equipment operating conditions.
Participate in the implementation of preventive maintenance inspections and corrective actions in time and within budget.
Planning material requirements and help the Maintenance Supervisor to maintain an adequate stock of parts and components.
Execute their duties in compliance with the procedures, programs and standards established by the departments of Maintenance and HS&E.
Report any defects or hazards that may affect the safety of themselves, their coworkers and affect the integrity of the drilling equipment.
Identify risks and prevent accidents, to achieve the goals of the company in terms of safety & security.
Responsible for keeping their tools and personal safety elements in good condition. Like workspaces, they must keep it clean and tidy.
Check the correct disposal of waste that repairs could result.
Collaborate with other members of Maintenance when available and so requested by the Supervisor.
Minimum Education:
• Technician Education
• It is essential to have knowledge of commonly used: concepts, practices and procedures.
• Have knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements associated with drilling operations.
• Experience in diesel engines is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience in the following fields will be valued: electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic. Rigs tools and draw-works.
• Knowledge in automatic transmission, reducers and gears box.
• Fluent in English (desirable)
• Good communication skills (desirable)
